The National Assembly’s Health Committee has invited the public to give views on the Tobacco Control (Amendment) Bill at hearings scheduled across five counties from 24 to 26 September.
Parliament’s published notice identifies the proposal as Senate Bill No. 35 of 2024, sponsored by Senator Catherine Mumma. It seeks to bring electronic nicotine-delivery systems, including electronic cigarettes and related products, within the tobacco-control framework.
The bill received its first reading in the National Assembly on 31 March 2026 and was referred to the committee for consideration. The notice invites both written memoranda and oral submissions during the county hearings.
The proposal is still undergoing parliamentary consideration. These hearings should not be reported as proof that the proposed changes have already become law.
Anyone planning to attend should check the county schedule attached to Parliament’s notice for the relevant venue and session. The next substantive record to watch is the committee’s report on the bill and the public views it receives.
