Corrections and clarifications

Help us identify factual errors and keep the public record accurate.

Report an error

Please use our editorial contact and include the article link, the passage you believe is incorrect, the proposed correction and supporting evidence or a source link.

How corrections should appear

When a material factual error is confirmed, the article should be corrected and carry a dated note explaining what changed. A clarification should explain wording that was ambiguous or incomplete. Minor spelling or formatting fixes do not normally need a separate note.

New developments should be identified as updates rather than presented as though they were known at the original publication time. Publication dates should not be changed simply to make an old story look new.

Responses and disagreements

People or organisations covered in our reporting can send a response through our editorial contact. Disagreement with an opinion does not by itself establish a factual error, but factual claims in opinion pieces can be challenged in the same way as those in news reports.
