Babu Owino says he will spend more of his campaign time in Nairobi and attend selected Linda Mwananchi rallies, while continuing to support Edwin Sifuna’s presidential campaign.
Addressing journalists on 15 September, the Embakasi East MP said organising across the capital required substantial time and resources. The Star reported that he planned to concentrate on building the movement’s support in Nairobi, where he is seeking the governor’s seat.
Daily Nation’s account of the same briefing said Babu dismissed reports of political differences with Sifuna and urged opposition leaders to devote more time to strategy. Missing some rallies, in his explanation, was a campaign scheduling decision.
The distinction matters when assessing their public appearances: attendance at every shared event is not the same thing as political support. Babu’s stated position was that his Nairobi campaign and support for Sifuna would continue together.
What comes next is the organisation behind that position—ward-level activity, candidate coordination and a clear explanation of how the leaders’ respective party vehicles will work together.
