President William Ruto’s New York programme will focus on investment partnerships and Africa’s participation in artificial intelligence, according to the agenda set out by State House on 19 September.

The Star reported that spokesperson Hussein Mohamed listed energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, health, agriculture and technology among the sectors targeted during the visit for the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Ruto was scheduled to co-chair investment roundtables involving the Africa Finance Corporation and Global Africa Business Initiative alongside industrialist Aliko Dangote. The planned East Africa Refinery in Lamu was identified as a major item on the agenda.

The programme also includes AI cooperation with Finland’s President Alexander Stubb and discussions about financing African AI capacity. State House said Ruto would engage other leaders, multilateral institutions and businesses, as well as Kenyans in the United States.

The announcement describes intended meetings and proposals. It does not by itself confirm that investment agreements have been signed or project finance secured. The outcomes to watch are published agreements, funding commitments and delivery dates after the engagements take place.
