Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has condemned the heckling of Kalonzo Musyoka at Linda Mwananchi’s headquarters launch, saying political competition should not become public humiliation.

The Star reported his November 1 intervention as an appeal for restraint and respect for the Wiper leader. Kalonzo had encountered hostile chants at the October 30 event before Sifuna intervened to allow him to speak.

In a separate report from Masalani in Ijara, Duale challenged opposition principals to identify their joint presidential candidate. He argued that Ruto’s record and support would give the governing side an advantage.

That electoral assessment is Duale’s campaign claim, not a verified forecast. Neither confident vote predictions nor a crowded public meeting establishes the result of a future election.

His two interventions serve different purposes. The call for respectful treatment concerns the conduct of political competition; the challenge over a candidate seeks to put pressure on opposition negotiations. Respecting an opponent does not imply supporting that opponent’s candidacy.

The practical tests are whether leaders restrain disruptive supporters and whether the opposition announces an agreed selection mechanism. A demand from the governing side cannot substitute for that process, but it can increase the political cost of leaving supporters uncertain about how a decision will be made.
