President William Ruto has said he intends to award Koitalel Samoei University College a full university charter in February 2027.
People Daily reported that he made the pledge in Nandi Hills on Saturday, 17 October, and announced Sh3.5 billion for infrastructure at the institution.
Ruto referred to student accommodation, lecture halls and a library among the planned facilities. He also laid a foundation stone for hostels expected to accommodate 1,200 students.
The February commitment is a prospective milestone. The announcement does not mean the charter has already been issued, the facilities completed or the full sum disbursed.
The institution’s transition and the construction programme will require follow-through beyond the presidential visit. A specific February date and a detailed breakdown of the announced investment were not provided in the report cited here.
