Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has pledged security before, during and after the 2027 General Election, urging political leaders to avoid incitement and confrontations between their supporters.

Reports published on 19 September place his remarks at a gathering in Nyeri. The Star said he addressed the launch of the Kieni West Onion Farmers Cooperative and linked public safety to the protection of livelihoods as well as peaceful political participation.

Murkomen said agencies were preparing for the election and would act against people who threaten opponents or organise violence. Other leaders at the gathering also appealed for tolerance as parties begin positioning themselves for the contest.

These were ministerial commitments about preparations and enforcement. They are not independent confirmation that the next election will be peaceful or that particular suspects have committed offences.

The immediate public-interest questions are how the security plans will be implemented and how authorities will explain their actions consistently across political camps. The reports reviewed for this update did not set out a detailed public timetable for those preparations.
