The Linda Mwananchi movement plans to register aspirants ahead of the 2027 election and says candidates will not be allowed to hold grassroots party positions.
People Daily reported on 17 October that Pauline Njoroge relayed the rule after Edwin Sifuna’s meeting with aspirants in Bungoma. She said the restriction was intended to reduce conflicts of interest during nominations.
Sifuna also told aspirants that the movement expected to launch its Nairobi headquarters by the end of October. An exact launch date had not been confirmed in the report.
The announced rule gives prospective candidates an early indication of how the movement wants to organise its internal contest. It does not demonstrate that a nomination exercise has already been conducted or that its fairness has been independently assessed.
The next steps are the registration arrangements, detailed nomination procedures and the publication of the promised organisational timetable.
