Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned contractors who receive public money but fail to deliver work to the required standard, saying they should face accountability.
The Star reported that he spoke in Marimanti on 17 October during the launch of the Marimanti–Kibung’a–Mukuyuni road upgrade to bitumen standard.
Kindiki called for closer supervision of government projects and criticised delays and poor workmanship. His remarks put attention on the delivery obligations attached to public contracts and the role of officials overseeing them.
The warning is not proof that any named contractor has committed an offence, nor does it establish that an arrest or prosecution has occurred. Findings about a particular project would require the relevant inspection, contract and enforcement records.
For residents along the route, the key measures will be the progress and quality of construction. The launch marks the announced project activity; completion will require separate verification.
