Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina has announced that he is leaving the United Democratic Alliance for Ufanisi Kenya Party, adding to the political realignments taking shape ahead of the 2027 election.

The Star reported that Wainaina made the announcement during a meeting in Kieni on Saturday, 17 October. He described Ufanisi as a party open to supporters across the country, rather than a vehicle confined to Nyeri.

The announcement sets out his political direction, but it does not by itself establish that every formal party-membership or parliamentary procedure has been completed. No finding on his parliamentary seat follows from this report.

For constituents, the next practical questions are how the new affiliation will be formalised and what programme the party will present. Wainaina’s remarks mark a declared change of political home; candidate selection and the wider electoral contest remain ahead.
